Lori Collins
Director of Business and Economic Development
Lori Collins serves as the Director of Business and Economic Development for Mesa Gateway Airport, an economic engine that generates more than $2 billion in annual output. She leads the team responsible for advancing the Airport’s business operations and driving key revenue-generating initiatives, including business attraction and retention, real estate development, property management, revenue parking, ground transportation, rental car operations, and terminal concessions.
With more than two decades of experience in airport management and economic development across greater Phoenix, Lori has played a central role in shaping the region’s growth. She previously held key roles with the City of Chandler and served as deputy economic development director for both Mesa and Phoenix, where she helped guide major investment, job creation, and long-term economic development strategy.
Lori is a Certified Member (C.M.) of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) and holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication. She has been recognized in AZRE Magazine’s People to Know and AZ Big Media’s Arizona Business Leaders. Lori’s commitment to building a strong economic future for Arizona is reflected in her extensive community leadership. She Co-Chairs the Future48 Workforce Aerospace and Defense Accelerator Business and Industry Leadership Team and participates in the Chandler-Gilbert Community College President’s Community Advisory Council. She also serves on the Boards of the Gilbert and Queen Creek Chambers of Commerce, is a member of the City of Chandler General Plan Resident Advisory Committee, and is a past presidentt of the Arizona Association for Economic Development (AAED).

Alex Smith
Project Manager – Business Attraction and Recruitment
Alex Smith, A.A.E., C.A.E. serves as a Project Manager with the Business and Economic Development team at Mesa Gateway Airport. He is responsible for business attraction and recruitment activities, in addition to leading the Airport’s revenue parking program. Alex’s primary focus is on helping grow the Airport’s business community and bolster its position as the premier aerospace hub in the western United States. With over a decade of experience, including numerous leadership roles with the Airport’s Operations team, he helps businesses seamlessly navigate the intricacies of landing at the airport.
Alex holds a Bachelor of Science in Air Traffic Management and a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice, both from Arizona State University. He is an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) through the American Association of Airport Executives and a Certified Airport Executive (C.A.E.) through the Southwest Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives (SWAAAE). Alex was recognized in 2025 as one of Airport Business magazine’s Top 40 Under 40. Additionally, Alex currently serves on the Board of Directors for SWAAAE.

Matthew McClung
Project Coordinator – Business Retention and Expansion, Ground Transportation, and Vending/ATM Concessions
Matthew McClung serve’s as an Economic Development and Real Estate Project Manager at Mesa Gateway Airport, and is dedicated to a variety of critical areas including revenue growth, managing terminal concessions and rental car programs, fostering tenant relations, and overseeing both project and property management. He also developed and maintains the GIS-based Airport Business Map featured on the Airport’s website.
Matthew’s industry experience spans 20 years, with a primary focus on aviation and business development. He spent 13 years leading the Fuel Storage Facility and quality assurance initiatives at Gateway Airport.
Originally from the Central Coast of California, Matthew earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geography at Arizona State University. He enjoys watching Formula 1, engaging in home improvement projects, and spending quality time with his wife and kids. His diverse interests and family-oriented lifestyle complement his professional achievements, providing a well-rounded and grounded perspective to his work and leadership at Gateway.
